[VIDEO] Throwback to 2016: How To Step Up Your Style With Accessories

I created and posted this video 7 years ago, and although some of the outfits and pieces are not my current style, I think the general takeaway of how you can easily step up your style with accessories with a few simple tweaks, still stands very true in my book. I plan to film an updated version of this video wearing similar but updated pieces according to my style now, but in the meantime, let’s take a look at what I was wearing and remixing back in 2016!

I love sharing throwbacks from my early blogging days and from when I was super active on my YouTube channel, which recently I have been thinking about getting back into, but for now, it’s fun to look back at memory lane and see what I was wearing, what tips I was sharing and if any of them can be brought into current day.

I would say that in this case, the base outfit that I started with (a white tee and jeans) is still very much a classic look and so easy to elevate and remix simply swapping out your accessories jewelry, shoes, bags, sunglasses, hats and even lipstick! I encourage you to try it for yourself and see what you can come up with. If you feel like sharing any of the looks with, I would love to see them!

NOTES: For me personally, when I look back at these outfits now, they don’t resonate with me like they used to because of things like the heel choice, the jean style and the fact that I don’t reach for statement necklaces anymore, but if I saw someone in similar looks I would probably think they looked very cute and put together. All that to say, don’t worry too much about what other people are wearing and saying about current trends and styles if you are already feeling stellar in what you know and love when it comes to clothing and style. What matters is how something feels when you put it on, which I believe directly affects your state of mind and self confidence. This matters more than any fleeting trend or someone’s personal opinion on fashion. TAKEAWAY: Do what feels best and leave the rest!
